Arrive Alive 345 – Thank you To Our Sponsors

We want to extend a special thank you to our sponsors, the RCIPS, media, other partnering agencies, restaurants, bars, and clubs, as well as residents and visitors of the Cayman Islands for a successful 2020 #ARRIVEALIVE345 campaign. It was the second year the NDC collaborated with Hurley’s Media to fuse three well-known road safety programs (Purple Ribbon Pledge, Designated Driver, Purple Ribbon Bus) and created what is now known as the #ARRIVEALIVE345 don’t drink & drive Campaign. 2020 was a monumental year as the NDC celebrated the 20thanniversary of the campaign. This year we are pleased to announce that the number of riders in both Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac is a whopping 2,162. The success of this campaign is attributed to the enormous amount of support from the community. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we are excited about 2021 becoming our 21st year. We want to encourage you to continue #ARRIVEALIVE345 by making a commitment to not drink & drive in 2021.

Cannabis: Be Informed

AVAILABILITY Cannabis oil is only available by prescription at pharmacies that are regulated in the Cayman Islands. Selling or buying illicit cannabis or cannabis oil is illegal. TRAVELLING WITH CANNABIS It is illegal to import or export cannabis in any form across the Cayman border. This applies to all countries, whether it Is legal there or not. Cannabis-based treatments are approved for use only in the Cayman Islands. However, medicinal cannabis cannot legally cross international borders. Purple Ribbon Bus Campaign 2017

The National Drug Council (NDC) would like to extend a special thank you to its sponsors, RCIPS and other partnering agencies, the media, residents and visitors of the Cayman Islands for a successful 2017 Designated Driver (DD) and Purple Ribbon Bus (PRB) campaign. This year marks seventeen (17) years since the inception of the campaign and we are pleased to announce that we had an increase in the number of overall participating bars, restaurants and clubs, were able to provide the public with maps outlining the bus routes as well as for the first time, provided an extension of this service in Cayman Brac. We are delighted with the increased level of support garnered this year and the tremendous partnerships with our generous sponsors, in order to be able to offer the Designated Driver programme which ran from 1st December to 31st December and the Purple Ribbon Bus service for New Year’s Eve, 31st December 2017. The NDC would like to recognize the following sponsors and partners for their generous contributions to the programme: Dart, Jacques Scott Group Ltd, Cayman National Bank, Maples FS, Cayman First Insurance, Greenlight RE, EcayOnline, Mourant Ozannes, Optimal Build Construction, Foster’s Food Fair – IGA, Radio Cayman, B.A.A.M., Pat’s Restaurant and Bar, Brac Power and Light, Star Island Restaurant, Hon. Mr. Moses Kirkconnell, Billy’s Supermarket and in partnership with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS).

Sponsors and Media charged with saving lives this New Year’s Eve

The National Drug Council would like to extend a special thank you to its sponsors, media and the residents of the Cayman Islands for a successful 2014 Purple Ribbon Bus service. Health City Cayman, Jacques Scott Group and Cayman National Bank answered the call on December 31st to ensure that this vital service would be offered on New Year’s Eve. It was good ol’ fashion “all hands on deck” race to get the message broadcasted, due to an initial lack of sponsorship. Cayman 27, Cayman News Service, Radio Cayman, dms Broadcasting, Hurley’s Entertainment, Paramount Media, and our volunteers exercised all forms of mass media and foot patrol to inform Cayman. Notably, the first reports estimated approximately 500 party goers utilised the bus service and got home safely. By the end of the night we believe that, that initial number doubled. A Denver Colorado family learned about the free bus service from a hotel representative and chose to use it as their mode of transportation for the night. Additionally, a visiting resident from Jamaica, rode the bus and so was excited with her experience she then encouraged tourists to come aboard (see photos attached). This is the 14th year the Purple Ribbon service has been offered. The NDC will continue to collaborate with sponsors, event planners and residents to ensure that the 2015 service will be the best.
